Finance Officer

We are currently responding to the high influx of refugees and migrants through Croatia where we are active in Slavonski Brod registering transit camp.

Centre for peace Osijek and Save the Children are looking for a skilled Finance Officer to be based in Slavonski Brod, who meet the following criteria:

• Applicants must be Croatian nationals, or holders of a work visa and resident’s permit.
• Ability to relocate within the country if required.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Educational background in Finance & Accounting and at least 1-2 year’s working experience in finance at an entry to intermediate level position
• Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office with advanced Excel proficiency
• Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
• Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues
• A commitment to the aims and objectives of Save the Children.
• Able to carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects Save the Children’s commitment to safeguarding children in accordance with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

As the Finance Officer your responsibilities will include:

• To complete all assigned tasks in the Save the Children financial diary on time
• To keep good accounting records and safeguard the integrity of the computerized/manual accounting system and ensure that cash logs are updated daily
• Complete weekly and end-of-month cash counts
• Verify documentation for all payment requests presented for authorization and payment
• Disburse funds for the office operations
• Pay all invoices when due
• To perform daily bookkeeping to ensure accurate records are maintained by ensuring that required documentation is thoroughly and accurately completed
• File all financial documents regularly (as soon as they are completed)
• Distribute and collect signed staff payslip on a monthly basis
• To assist in regular reviewing the system in place and inform the Finance Manager of recommendations for suitable improvements and adjustments
• Backup the finance files weekly
