The Centre for Peace, Nonviolence and Human Rights - Osijek awards the Award and recognition for the promotion of peacebuilding, nonviolence and human rights "Krunoslav Sukić" for special contribution to the protection and promotion of human rights and human freedoms and the consistent promotion of a culture of peace and nonviolence. By awarding awards and recognition, we want to contribute to the visibility of solidary, consistent, especially creative and courageous actions of individuals and individuals in preventing violence, reducing social injustices and building a democratic society based on a culture of non-violence.

This year's winners of the "Krunoslav Sukić" 2024 Award and Accolades for promoting peacebuilding, nonviolence and human rights are:

Is awarded with gratitude to:

Roman Nikolić - a man who puts his acting, directing, producing and managerial talent, knowledge and skills in the service of his civic power to influence the creation of a more just, towards violence and discrimination of those vulnerable, more aware and resilient society that strives to understand and values the individual regardless of their social or economic status, nationality, religion, sexual or ideological orientation.

 

The „Krunoslav Sukić“ 2024 Award for the Promotion of Peacebuilding, Nonviolence and Human Rights

Is awarded with gratitude:

PAX for Peace from the Netherlands, Peace Action from North Macedonia, Integra and New Social Initiative from Kosovo, Civic Initiatives from Serbia and the International Center for Transitional Justice - for cooperation with organizations of war victims on harmonizing the principles of transitional justice in the Western Balkans.

Alma Džinić-Trutović - a fighter for the rights of the most vulnerable and a fruitful peace activist in the field of empowering and connecting young people in post-war peacebuilding in the countries of the Western Balkans.

Goran Matijević - the policeman we need because, despite his exposure, he makes the community safer for vulnerable groups, more resistant to taking justice into their own hands and stronger for the prevention of violence.

It is posthumously awarded with gratitude to

Spasenija Moro - a friend, teacher and peacemaker who touched many people and young people with hope and was one of the pillars of the Centre for Peace, Nonviolence and Human Rights - Osijek.

Accolade for the BOOK OF THE YEAR 2023/2024

Is awarded with gratitude:

Leonidi Kovač - for the book of essays "Rasprizorenja", Zagreb, SANDFORF, 2023, in which the author, in a careful and knowledgeable analysis and reading of the works of art of W. G. Sebald, R. M. Rilke, Ulrike Ottinger, Harun Farocki and others, analyzes "the origins of violence, i.e. genocidal and ecocidal policies of the 20th and 21st centuries".

Valentin Kuzelj and co-authors - for the scientific monograph "The Welfare State as a Fundamental Value of the Contemporary Republic of Croatia", which focuses on the insufficiently aware welfare state, emphasizing human dignity as a fundamental value. We see this monograph as a source of information, knowledge and inspiration for scientists, judges, lawmakers, lawyers, sociologists, political scientists, as well as for students and all those who study this topic as part of civic activism.

PEACEBUILDING SCHOOL 2024 Award

is awarded with gratitude to three elementary schools in Osijek:

Ljudevit Gaj Elementary School, Vladimir Becić Elementary School and Retfala Elementary School - for the proactive, inclusive, creative, peace-loving and collaborative efforts of teachers and students to make their schools places where friendships are valued and built, differences are respected, the weak are supported and respected.
