Yesterday we celebrated the 17th Krunoslav Sukić Peace Award, on the eve of today's Human Rights Day
Today, on International Human Rights Day, we are reminded more than ever how important it is to stand with those who build peace, justice and dignity – every day, quietly, persistently and with courage.
Yesterday we marked the 17th award ceremony of the "Krunoslav Sukić" Peace Award, an occasion dedicated to individuals and organizations whose work brings real, tangible change to our communities. Through their actions, solidarity and commitment to the belief that every person deserves a life free from fear, violence and injustice, they show what it means to live human rights in practice.
This year’s laureates once again demonstrated that progress is possible when people choose empathy over indifference and responsibility over silence. Their initiatives—whether local or broader—remind us that peace is built gradually: through dialogue, cooperation, and everyday efforts that often remain unseen but have lasting impact.
We congratulate all our laureates for their dedication, perseverance and contribution to peacebuilding.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the event, or shared this moment with us. Your presence and encouragement strengthen our work and affirm the values we stand for.
As we observe International Human Rights Day, may it inspire us to continue protecting and advancing the rights and freedoms that belong to all people. Let it remind us that human rights must not remain only a principle written in documents, but a lived reality – always, everywhere, and for everyone.
