Students from the Northeastern University of Boston visited the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and were interested in the topics of women's rights and the position of women in Croatia

During the lecture, we talked about important and shocking cases of human rights violations in Croatia from the case of Mirela Čavajda, through the "Lika handshake", to the Osijek gynecologist accused of sexual abuse of a patientWe presented them with statistical data on gender differences through different categories such as the representation of the workforce, leadership positions, the difference in salaries and the representation of women in the Croatian Parliament and the GovernmentWe also introduced the students to the Osijek story behind the informal initiative Night March Osijek, which advocates for women's rights and social change.

Such meetings are important because they encourage the exchange of knowledge, experiences and examples of good practice. Dialogue with young people from other parts of the world helps us to see our own context from a broader perspective and strengthens the common struggle for a more equal and just society.

Talking about difficult but crucial topics contributes to strengthening civic awareness and encourages new generations to actively participate in creating a better and fairer society without violence, discrimination and silence.
