Ahead of the anniversary of the Hamas attack, Israel has been increasing its airstrikes on Gaza and Lebanon
As you are reading this post, Israel is bombarding Gaza ahead of the anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas. The conflict further escalated when Israel carried out airstrikes last month on Lebanon, where a Palestinian refugee camp is located. The airstrikes on Lebanon are getting worse every day. Even though around 40,000 civilians are reported dead, the exact number is still unknown, considering that similar number have been reported since the beginning of 2024, implying that the real number is much higher. It is important to emphasize that the Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians dates back to 1948, when the state of Israel was founded.
Since October 7 last year, Israel has dropped over 70,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, more than was dropped on London, Hamburg and Dresden in World War II combined. Experts imply that in the first 120 days since October 7, 2023, Israel's carbon emissions, as a result of the bombing, has exceeded the annual carbon emissions of 26 countries and territories.
More than 40,000 protesters marched in central London this weekend demanding a ceasefire, condemning Israel's aggression against Gaza and Lebanon. Thousands also gathered in Paris, Rome, Manila, Cape Town and New York, while there were also protests around the White House in Washington because of the support of the US Government for Israel.
As an organization that was founded in order to achieve sustainable peace, we once again demand for an immediate ceasefire. We condemn every act of genocide and violation of fundamental human rights.
