At a conference organized by the Centre for Peace – Osijek, we presented the results of the project "Between Law and Reality: Are We Safe in the Healthcare System?", aimed at protecting women's rights and combating discrimination in healthcare institutions.

At the conference, we raised important questions:

• Why are institutions silent?
• Is there a legal framework that would allow for the suspension of healthcare workers who are being prosecuted for sexual offences?
• Are women truly safe from perpetrators in the healthcare system?
• What are the rights of victims of sexual violence – and how can they access them?

Natalija Havelka, Executive Director of the Centre for Peace – Osijek, presented a detailed legal and case analysis and pointed out numerous shortcomings in institutional action.
Veselinka Kastratović, Legal Advisor, spoke about the rights of victims of sexual violence, about the protection mechanisms that exist – but are rarely activated – and about the necessary legal changes.

On this occasion, information booklets and brochures developed as part of the project were presented and distributed, which address key topics related to patients' rights, procedures in case of their violation, as well as tools for the prevention and suppression of sexual violence in healthcare.
